“people say sheep are stupid, but in order to handle sheep well, you have to be smarter than they are. And not very many people are.”
“He said to work with sheep, you have to be patient, gentle, and kind.”
And I think that that's also so true of the herders. But I just think sheep are, they're special little animals.

I’m a big fan of this podcast their content and the hosts that work to supply it Ryan Mahoney, Dr. Rosie Busch, and Dan Macon. Their enthusiasm and passion in the important work of the sheep industry is evident in everything they bring to the conversation.
This episode had me thinking on a few topics I’d like to bring to the table, in a future post. relevant to raising sheep and working as a shepherd in the north east.
But for now I’ll leave it here with the quotes above. Because it deserves to be said. the relationship between sheep and shepherd is one unparalleled to that of other livestock (from my experience). And I feel incredibly blessed to share this life with a flock of very special Suffolks and commercials that teach new lessons regularly, if your listening. On the land, on life and working with another species and how truly small as humans are we are in this world.
