The Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department has been approved for a $200,000.00 grant for a new pumper tender. In order for the fire department to take advantage of this grant money we have to match $25,000.00. Donations can be made on Go Fund Me or in person at City Hall, 1524 Main St., Petersburg...

Today is Taco Tuesday at Mawmaw's Cafe. We will have Pork, Chicken and Brisket Tacos. Terry's homemade hot sauce and all the trimmings
We will of course have Charbroiled Hamburgers and Hand Cut Fries.
BBQ Brisket, Ribs, Sausage, and Pulled Pork.
And all of your favorite sandwiches.
Everything we use is fresh never frozen at Mawmaw's Cafe

Well after being open for a week we have finally kind of figured out what we need to do about our hours.
So for now until the wind farm gets started we will be open Tuesday Thru Saturday 11 am to 10 pm
Sunday 11 am to 2 pm
And we will close on Monday for a day of rest.
This will also allow Debbie and I one day a week to work on getting moved to Petersburg. We are currently living out west of Lubbock.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Shorty Robertson passed away earlier today. Please keep the Robertson family in your prayers at this time.....

I have always called him "Mr. Petersburg". Petersburg would NOT be what it is today had it not been for Shorty Robertson. If I remember right he was the President of the School board when James Odom was hired. James Odom is the Coach that won The 1963 State Championship that put Petersburg on the map.
Bert & Shorty Robertson were my father's and grandfather's first friends when they moved to Petersburg.
We will keep praying for comfort for you and your family during this difficult time.

You see the way I was raised out there in Petersburg we were taught that when you have company coming you get prepared.
We want to provide a nice clean and inviting atmosphere at Mawmaw's Cafe for these Wind Turbine people. Petersburg is about to go from NO WINDMILLS to being the home of The Largest Wind Farm in the continental United States. This wind farm will have the largest wind turbines they make. They are a 2.1 Megawatt turbine.
This farm is a little over 120,000 acres.
So we are about to go from NO WIND energy to the biggest wind farm there is. Y'all get ready cause it has already started. They are in the area. It's getting real now.
If you don't know where Petersburg is you're about to.
FYI... Take I-27 North to Exit 24 just past Abernathy and turn east and in 15 short minutes from the interstate and you're there.

Well after months and months of work and road block after road block this little project is about to come to life. The first phase of my Revitalizing Petersburg project will open on Saturday at 11 am.
Mawmaw's Cafe is coming to life.......
Saturday will be our unofficial Grand Opening.
For those that don't know. Mawmaw's Cafe is part of The Buffalo General Store. The store part will open as we have time to bring it on line.
The Wind Turbine people are about to be everywhere and we are going to be ready.
We will open Saturday @ 11 am.
BBQ(Brisket, Ribs, Sausage, Pork Loin), Charbroiled Hamburgers, Handcut Fries, Pot Roast, Sandwiches, Street Tacos, Pork Loin & Red Beans with Hot Cornbread will be on the menu. With several other things as well...We will add other items in the next few days....
If the Lord's willing and the creek don't rise we will be open 7 days a week. We will be open from 11 a.m. to 10ish every night thru the end of harvest.
We will add breakfast as soon as we can as well.
We are very excited about finally being able to share this place with you all...
Y'all come by and see us when you can. As a friend of mine used to say...."We will treat you so many ways you're bound to like one of them"

One more day of progress in Petersburg.
Today we meet with our food supplier and this afternoon we get our final inspection. As you can tell we still have a little decorating and some clean up left to do.
It's almost ready y'all.....
We are real proud of how it has all turned out.
We just hope you guys enjoy it as much as we have enjoyed putting it together.
This will be a fun place with a fun and positive atmosphere.....
You know the "Hang Out"
We will have a game night and possibly from time to time we will have a movie night as well.
I hope to get a domino table from Steve Trowbridge in the next couple of days. That should make the whole deal complete.

You can come in the front door or the back door. We just want you to come in sit down and enjoy yourself when you come to Mawmaw's Cafe.
It's about to get real y'all
