I want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me and my little corner of the handmade world.

Whether you’ve attended an event where I’ve been a vendor, purchased something I’ve handcrafted, taken one of my sourdough classes, ordered bread or jam, shared one of my posts, or simply told a friend or family member about The Dough Diaries, I appreciate you more than I can put into words. ❤️

I also want to share a little bit about what actually goes into the products you purchase from a small cottage baker.

I’m a local sourdough micro-baker, and there is a LOT more involved than simply putting a loaf in the oven. For an event, I’m usually starting 3–4 days ahead preparing ingredients, packaging, mixing and fermenting dough, baking, cooling, labeling, packaging, and preparing everything needed to bring it all together.

And that doesn’t even include the planning, shopping, cleaning, recipe development, photography, marketing, and countless other little details happening behind the scenes.

It takes HOURS.

So when someone looks at the price of a handmade loaf or jar of jam and says, “That’s expensive,” I understand. Handmade products aren’t intended to compete with the cheapest option on the shelf.

You’re not just paying for a loaf of bread or a jar of jam. You’re paying for the ingredients, time, skill, craftsmanship, experience, and care that went into making it.

My breads, baked goods, jams, and other handcrafted products are made with quality ingredients, no preservatives, and intentionally simple ingredient lists whenever possible.

Take sourdough bread, for example. My basic loaf has just three ingredients: flour, water, and salt. That’s it. No long list of additives or preservatives designed to give it a shelf life measured in weeks.

And honestly? My bread doesn’t usually get the opportunity to get stale anyway. 😂

My customers eat it.

They come back.

They tell their friends.

And they keep supporting my little business because they value what goes into the food they bring home to their families.

There will always be people who choose the least expensive option, and that’s okay. We all have different priorities, budgets, and preferences.

But there are also people who value quality ingredients, traditional methods, handmade products, supporting local businesses, and knowing the person who made what they’re bringing home.

Those are my customers.

And to every single one of you who has chosen to support The Dough Diaries in any way:

Thank you for valuing the work behind the loaf.

Thank you for supporting handmade.

And thank you for helping my little business continue to grow. 🤎🍞

What happens when you find an AMAZING deal on tomatoes?

You buy almost 50 POUNDS of them, of course! 😂

Then you clean ’em, core ’em, and toss them in the freezer until you’re ready to turn that tomato haul into something delicious.

Today’s canning session produced:
🍝 Regular Pasta Sauce
🔥 Spicy Pasta Sauce
🍅 Tomato Sauce
🌶️ Roasted Tomato 4-Pepper Salsa

And just like that… almost 50 lbs of tomatoes became a whole lot of jars!

I think the family is officially stocked up for a while.
