Center City CSA

Center City CSA Center City Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a joint partnership between Philadelphia community members and local farmers.

At the beginning of the farming seasons, CSA members subscribe to a share of the farmers' harvest, paying the farmer in early spring, and receive fresh, local, and organic produce weekly for twenty-one weeks during the harvest season. The price covers the farmers' start up costs, growing, distributing, and the farmers' wages to continue his or her lifestyle.

A great story teller, urban farmer, educator and local activist. He'll be at the Liberty, Food, and Justice For All: Hazon Philadelphia Food Festival. Will you be there?

Through out my activity in the sustainability movement, and my writings on it, I feel that I have always maintained a fairly moderate perspective. Sure, I’ve experimented with the more “alternative” sides of sustainability like communal living, sustenance farming, and even washing clothes in my bath...

This year we ate said planted garlic, and in this picture is CSA member Brian is cracking heads of garlic to send back to the farm to be planted for next year's harvest! Que music.... "the circle of liiiiiifffeeeeeee (produce)!"

CSA Family!

Thank you to everyone that has come out to help cook during CSA pickup on Wednesdays. Soom Foods is helping us do a fundraiser for the supplemental food we purchase.

Reserve your goodie bag, which includes Soom Foods tehina, honey sticks, a wooden Soom spoon and a Jewish New Year greeting, all wrapped up in a gift bag, and Soom Foods will donate a major chunk of the proceeds to this Tzedakah Box initiative which is feeding people in our community that are in need of a meal and maybe a visit, while also supporting ethical & sustainable food and farms.

This is an initiative of Rodeph Shalom, Center City CSA and Cafe Olam, and most recently Tribe12 has joined the team!

Get one or more, and then spread the love please! It makes a great New Years gift, and an even better "I'm sorry" gift leading up to Yom Kippur. :o)
