WE’RE IN BALTIMORE MAGAZINE!

Mikey & Mel’s is bringing new life to a beloved Pikesville institution—and Baltimore Magazine is sharing the story.

From taking over the legendary Essen Room and expanding the space to bringing in authentic Ess-a-Bagels from NYC, growing the famous pickle bar to 10 varieties, and serving the over-the-top sandwiches you know and love, we’re honoring what made this deli special while adding the signature Mikey & Mel’s touch.

At the heart of it all is a story about family, tradition, and full-circle moments. ❤️

Brothers Aaron and Harley Magden founded Mikey & Mel’s in memory of their father, Mike, and grandfather, Mel, with a mission to bring the authentic Jewish deli experience they grew up with in Cleveland to Maryland.

That mission came full circle when Lou Ellison of The Essen Room helped them launch Mikey & Mel’s in 2020. Now, six years later, they’re carrying his Pikesville deli into its next chapter.

More seats. Bigger sandwiches. Better bagels. A bigger pickle bar.
