BOOKS THAT I READ THIS YEAR THAT CHANGE MY LIFE. ( I already hear: I don’t read, books are expensive etc…) you can actually find all these books for free at your local library, they are also available for download in audiobook and ebooks on Libby which is a free app that all you need to access it is a library card. So no excuse!
To understand where we are today and how humanity has evolved you need to look at food throughout history. I promise they are actually really fun to read, and not boring at all!
It is interesting to see how we humans found ourselves in the situation that we are today, politically, historically, and physically. You might know a lot of these facts, but never put them all together.
Food is health. Food is love. Food is pleasure. Food is radical. How what we drink or eat today has changed and will continue humanity. Food that we love might disappear tomorrow. If you want to change the world it will have to start with our food system. If you learn more you discover that EVERYTHING IS RELATED TO FOOD! E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G!
There is a way to fight it, and it might be inconvenient at certain times but it will be necessary as otherwise we might lose forever things we love the most (think about coffee and chocolate)
But also, you want to learn fun facts? Learn about how cereal, vanilla ice cream or apple pie were created. Learn how the colonizers were able to take most of the world dues to what they were drinking. Learn about food in general and the problematic of the science of nutrition and its modern health problems. These are the books to read.

Tomorrow is the last day (Friday 1/31) to sign up for the new chocolat club! This month we are featuring from Sao Paola, Brazil!

Founded in 2014, Luisa Abram is a chocolate maker that dedicates itself to sourcing micro-lot, wildly grown cacao from the Amazon Rainforest. The chocolate is made small-scale in São Paulo, Brazil by the Abram-Banks family!

We have NEW Valentine’s Day plate: cheese and craft chocolate pairing!
4 cheese match with 4 chocolates!

1. Bûche de Luçay ( goat’s milk from France .jacquin ) with Citrus Melange à trois from from Utah, made with cocoa that they obtain directly from our farmers in Ecuador. Combined it with the oils from yuzu – an incredible citrus from Japan, tangerine, and grapefruit and added tiny little pieces orange fruit leather.

2. Beppie ( sheep’s milk gouda from Netherlands ) with from Switzerland: Esmeraldas 42% Dark single origin beans from Esmeraldas Coast, Ecuador. Silky notes of caramel, hazelnut and salt float through this chocolate!

3. Comté 18 month (raw cow’s milk from France ) with from California: 75% dark single origin: Brazil, Fazenda Camboa estate. The cacao is deliciously earthy and nutty on its own, but when combined with a touch of sugar, the flavors expand to include honeysuckle, walnut, and even fresh grapes.

4. Black Ledge Blue (raw cow’s milk from in Connecticut) with in Arizona, Warm spices swaddle rich brown fruits in these flavorful beans from Ben Tre, the birthplace of Vietnamese cacao. 70% dark.
