Calling all BIPOC farmers, food makers, and entrepreneurs... Applications are open for the BIPOC Vendor Fund at the Pittsfield Farmers Market!

This fund, offered in partnership with the Berkshire Black Economic Council and Roots Rising, is about more than financial support. It’s about making space, building opportunity, and investing in a market that reflects the full richness of our community.

Awardees may receive:
• Booth fee coverage ($175–$500 value)
• Up to $500 for supplies, equipment, permits, or business development

We know that access matters, and we’re committed to lowering barriers so more vendors can bring their work, culture, and creativity to market.

We’re thrilled to welcome two incredible new members to the Roots Rising Board of Directors: Inge Spungen and Ben Daire! 🌱

Inge brings decades of leadership in nonprofit collaboration and child advocacy. As former Executive Director of the The Paterson Alliance, she led a powerful network of 100+ partners working toward a vibrant Paterson, NJ. She also helped bring the League of Women Voters of Paterson back to life, serving as its president, and was a CPA and Director of Finance at an international law firm. Inge pairs financial expertise with deep heart, including years as a foster parent. We’re so grateful for the wisdom and care she brings to this work.

Ben is a French-American former chef and the owner of Dare Bottleshop. Raised in rural France, Ben’s lifelong connection to food and land has taken him from restaurant kitchens in Paris and Oslo to the Berkshires. A passionate advocate for local farms and food education, Ben is excited to support Roots Rising’s youth and help grow a stronger local food system.
