Text Message to Mackenzie..From Leslie
Kenzie, you know that I am very fond of you and Anthony. Please understand that this is strictly business - as a market we are still in a probationary period with the Owner and one more misstep will likely mean the end of the market. I/We can not further risk that possibility - period. That is not my decision, it is the nature of this situation now. Your and Anthony's action has caused this, not me. We have discussed numerous times in the past that the Produce Vendor is the "Anchor Vendor" of the Market and, most importantly, if the Produce Vendor is not present it is catastrophic for the Market. There is no question that both you Anthony understand this fact. You are aware that whomever occupies the Produce Vendor position at the market must always be present as the market is absolutely centered around this Vendor. Meaning: the Produce Vendor must have multiple contingency plans in place to staff the market each week. If someone is gone or sick it is the responsibility of the Produce Vendor to anticipate and have a plan in place to prevent any absence from occurring. The Liabilty Waver states, "If the vendor is a no-show without notification, they may lose future market privileges." Bee Pollen Farms was a flat "No Show" last Friday - regardless of your intention. I did not hear from you until AFTER the market had started, customers were looking for produce, and I had already made numerous phone calls and texts asking where you were. If you knew that Anthony had a stomach bug at 2am, and you were able to be out running errands, there was time for you to make provisions to be present. In addition, you knew 4 days previously that Mat would not be available, but nobody advised me. I waved Mat's vendor fee as a favor to you, even though he brought his own separate products. His no-show hurt our gluten-free baker, as well as the market in general. If she had known he was not going to be there, she could have made and sold more GF Sourdough bread. I have single-handedly organized the market at PVO, creating all the posts, scheduling the vendors, interfacing with the owner of PVO and advertising in publications and providing street signage. A sunny day, after a rainy day the previous week , in which 6 vendors managed to be present, is all the more reason why it was critical for produce to be present. We are still growing and it is imperative that everyone is present, most importantly the Produce Vendor. Customers were angry as well as fellow vendors. And they let ME, as the manager, know about it. All said, we will no longer need your services at our market, so please do not show up. I wish you all the best Leslie
