Rainy holiday weekends can be tough on small local businesses — especially roadside farm stands like ours.
Rain usually means fewer cookouts, fewer parties, and fewer last-minute stops for sweet corn, fresh produce, pasta salads, and weekend treats. It means quieter parking lots and slower days when we would normally be bustling with families stocking up for celebrations.
But sometimes, farming reminds you that it’s about more than the dollar.
This rain is something we’ve desperately needed. Our hay fields needed it. Our gardens needed it. Our pastures needed it. Our animals needed it. After weeks of watching the skies and hoping for a good soaking rain, we’re finally getting it.
So while the holiday weekend may not bring the crowds we hoped for, the rain is giving us something even more important — healthy crops, greener fields, fresh pasture growth, and a better season ahead.
Farming teaches patience and perspective. Sometimes a slow weekend at the stand is the tradeoff for something far greater growing out in the fields. 🌧️🌱🚜
Happy Memorial Day weekend. We remember and honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
We will remain open through the rainy weekend. See you at the stand.
