πŸ… Have you tried the winning varieties of our Tomato Taste-Off yet?! πŸ…

Last weekend, we sliced up 11 different locally-grown tomato varieties for our annual Tomato Taste-Off event. While all of the tomatoes received high praise from our participants, three varieties grown by local farms received ribbons. Is your favorite among the winners?

Most Tomatoey:
πŸ† Favorita grown by Westward Farm
Sweetness:
πŸ† Sun Orange grown by Stellar J Farm
Best Texture AND Best Looking:
πŸ† Magic Bullet grown by Soft Step Farm

No matter which tomato variety won your heart, now's the time to load up on these summer gems!

Special thanks to artist Cheri Kopp, who makes our Taste-Off ribbons! Cheri uses cast-off materials like twine and ribbon from our opening day celebrations, old postcards, paperboard product packaging, and more to create these beautiful works of art. What a perfect way to honor our winning tomatoes and growers.

Did you know that the Wednesday Market has free kids' activities every week? Today, we'll be weaving paper baskets and filling them with colored-in vegetables!

This activity will be led by Raven, our youth and food access lead, and is part of our POP Kids' Club, a program designed to encourage healthy eating, allow kids to try new farm-grown foods, and to empower children to make their own purchasing decisions. After kids participate in a POP activity, they will receive $2 in market bucks, good for fresh fruits and veggies at the market.
