🐄🔪 From the Show Ring to the Cutting Room — An Experience These Kids Will Never Forget! 🔪🐖
One of the most rewarding parts of what we do at J&R Meat Company is helping young livestock exhibitors see the journey of their project come full circle.
After spending months feeding, caring for, and showing their animals at the Porterville Fair, many of these hardworking youth chose J&R Meat Company for custom cut and wrap processing. As part of our commitment to agricultural education, we invited them into our USDA-inspected facility to observe the processing of their own animals and learn firsthand how livestock is transformed into high-quality food for families.
This hands-on experience gives exhibitors a deeper understanding of:
* Humane harvest and food safety
* Carcass fabrication and meat cutting
* USDA inspection procedures
* Packaging and labeling
* The importance of utilizing the entire animal
For many of these kids, this is where the true value of their livestock project comes to life. They don’t just raise an animal—they gain a real understanding of agriculture, food production, and the meat industry.
As a family of meat scientists, butchers, and agricultural advocates, we believe strongly in educating the next generation and helping young people connect the dots between the barn and the dinner table.
📣 We are excited to offer this opportunity again for the 2026 Porterville Fair Junior Livestock Auction!
If you select J&R Meat Company as your custom cut and wrap processor, the exhibitor will be invited to come to our shop and observe the processing of their animal up close in a safe, educational environment.
This is more than custom processing—it’s an unforgettable educational experience.
