Bap is where Korean flavors meet baked goods right here in Portland! In bittersweet news, Jen, the owner of Bap has announced that her next few dates will be Bap’s last.
For Jen, food has always been an integral part of her identity, from her personal relationship with it to her Korean heritage. Jen said “Bap meogeosseo?” or “Have you eaten?” is the most common question a parent asks their child. Throughout Jen’s life, food has become her own way of showing love. At the same time, baking has become intertwined with her own healing process and creative practices. These forces came together to allow Bap to evolve into the “most authentic version of [her] showing up in [the] community.”
On the Bap menu, Jen’s favorite bread is the doengjang-garlic bread. Doengjang is a staple in Korean soups and side dishes. As a savory loving person, she often starts the morning by adding a fried egg and chili crisp to the bun for a delicious breakfast. Along with her vegan milk bread buns with Korean inspired flavors, Bap’s menu also includes brownies and shortbread.
Come find Jen and Bap for their final market dates: 8/29, 9/12, and 9/26!
