❤️🤍💙The Allamakee County Community Foundation is proud to celebrate America’s 250th birthday by honoring Voices of America.❤️🤍💙

Paula Enyart of Postville is one of eight regional voices lifted up to share the stories of people who hold our community together two and a half centuries after our nation’s founding.

“What really matters to our citizens is at the heart of the Voices of America initiative,” said Jackie Cooper, Allamakee County Community Foundation Executive Director. “We value every voice as we work with donors, make grants and serve as a trusted convener addressing shared community needs.”

Paula Enyart has touched the lives of almost every citizen in Postville thanks to her leadership coordinating the Farmers Market and developing a Meals on Wheels program. Paula grew up around Volga and spent a lot of time around her grandparents playing cards. She believes her upbringing formed her “old soul.”

She established Postville home meal delivery through a partnership with local churches and a coalition of volunteers. She was motivated to not only deliver good nutrition but complete a welfare check on people who were older and alone. She is proud that community leaders, even the mayor, volunteer with the program creating close personal connections.

She said, “It’s all the little things that play into building a successful community. We bring local musicians to our Postville Farmers’ Market to celebrate the heart and soul of our community. People just hang out and get to know each other a little more.”

Voices of America events will be hosted by the Foundation and take place throughout the summer. They will feature a six-foot tall American eagle. Look for the table, take a family photo with the American eagle, and help write the story of our community on America’s 250th birthday. Hearing directly from individuals will help the Foundation make decisions on grants and initiatives in the coming year.

The Postville community continues to show what it means to take care of one another.

Thanks to the incredible generosity shown in support of the Postville Fire Department and surrounding communities support, there is now an abundance of donated food to share with anyone who could use it.

If you're attending the Postville Market tonight at the Big Four Fairgrounds, stop by the Exhibit Hall.

Approximately 100 FREE meals are available, including cold meat sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches donated by Hardee's. All food has been kept refrigerated and will be served cold.

Whether you're shopping the market or simply could use a meal, please stop by. Let's make sure this generosity reaches our community and nothing goes to waste.

Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported our local first responders and neighbors. This is what community is all about.
