Judith & Jane’s Bakehouse

Judith & Jane’s Bakehouse Chris & Lori's Bakehouse began as a bakery and cafe serving breakfast and lunch in DeForest in 1995.

After over a year of struggling through the early mornings and late nights that a young business demands, we decided that wholesaling our products to grocery stores was the way to go. As the focus of the business shifted to wholesaling, we decided to also try our hand at the Dane County Farmers' Market on the square in 1996. Every Saturday morning we brought a small amount of product, a little car

d table, and our then 6-year-old daughter to the market. Four years later, another daughter was born on a Saturday morning (one of the few markets we've missed), and she started coming with us to the market the following Saturday. Over the past two decades, our farmers' market stand has grown to offer many different types of scones - and of course, cow and flower-shaped sugar cookies.

2024 will officially be our 28th and final year on the Square! We are ready to step away from the hustle and bustle and take it easier. In 2025 we do plan to vend at the westside community market in Madison.

Hey all, McKenzie here!

May has been an incredible month for the markets, and we are so honored to hear your gratitude for us and our journey with the bakehouse. It means the world and I love letting you all know just how much it means to us!

June is fast-approaching and we are so excited to be baking June's menu, which brings me to the point of this post. We are starting June's menu a week early! Who doesn't love celebrating Pride month a week early?! So this Saturday, here is what you can find at our stand:

-Cow-shaped sugar cookies (June is dairy month!)
-Rainbow-colored heart-shaped sugar cookies (happy Pride month!)
-Chocolate Chip Sconuts
-White Chocolate Raspberry Scones
-Banana Dark Chocolate Oat Scones
-Blueberry Oat Scones
-RHUBARB OAT SCONES (MAKE SOME NOISE!!!)
-Whole Grain Dark Chocolate Scones
-Whole Grain Raspberry Scones
and
-Gluten-free and Vegan Rhubarb Scones

We will be bringing back Cinnamon Chip Sconuts, Espresso Dark Chocolate, Coconut Dark Chocolate, Cranberry Oat, GF/V Mocha, and GF/V Raspberry later this season! We appreciate your patience with us as we figure out what works best for us!

It's a new day here at the bakehouse and we are still reeling from an incredible first week. "Thank you" is never enough. Y'all have no idea how much your love and support mean to us. GOOD MORNING FROM THE WESTSIDE!!! We were so busy that I (McKenzie) wasn’t able to make a post before we sold out of everything besides a singular gluten free banana blueberry! I wanted to post our stand anyway because this is what you will be looking for every Saturday during next year’s market season!

We cannot emphasize enough how grateful we are for all the love, support, and encouragement we have gotten this week and into the weekend. We are SO LUCKY AND BLESSED. And we cannot wait to be back every weekend next year selling scones and seeing all of your shining faces! As soon as we know what we will be baking, we will let everyone know! Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!!!
