Wish you could enjoy Taylor's Produce peaches long after summer is over? 🍑 Try canning them!

If you've never canned peaches before, it's easier than you might think. Start with ripe, yellow-flesh peaches, peel and pit them, then cut them into halves or slices. Pack them into clean canning jars with water, fruit juice, or syrup, leaving the recommended headspace, and process them in a boiling water canner.

A few important tips: always use a tested canning recipe, and follow the recommended processing time for your jar size and altitude.

More and more people are paying attention to where their food comes from. A recent CBS News poll found that nearly 40% of Americans are buying or eating less produce because of the recent Cyclospora outbreak.

That's one of the reasons we believe buying local matters. State agriculture officials have said locally grown produce has not been linked to the current outbreak, and buying directly from local farms means your food travels a much shorter distance from the field to your table.

Farmer Tip! 🍈

Wondering how to pick a ripe cantaloupe? Look for a smooth stem scar where it naturally separated from the vine and a creamy golden color beneath the netting. Those are two great signs it's ready to enjoy!
