Smith & Meyer Farm

Smith & Meyer Farm The Smith & Meyer Family has grown apples in Princeton, Maine since 1868 when Cyrus Smith bought the farm after the Civil War.

Following decades of dormancy, we now continue our heritage caring for trees in our Washington County orchards.

Along with many in Washington County, hunting is a part of our Heritage and a way of life. Being November and the Rut in high gear, we thought we'd share a few pics of our Great Grandfather and comrades at the Sunset Lodge in what is now Indian Township near Princeton. The log cabin was once located on the Bellmont Point Road, since burned and is no longer there. Names within the pics are Carl Smith, Dr. Lord, Dick Hoar, Ducky Drake, Geo McAllister, Geo. McGlaughlin, McNicols, H. Swain, Ned Brown and Cliff Smith. Photos in the ca 1920-30's.

Weather's been hot and dry. No real rain for another couple weeks. We dont like to be thirsty, and neither do our Apples...so we have had to help mother nature out by getting a lil hydration to the trees by many means. We've pumped and dumped, put out drip lines, and hosed by hand. Even a monarch appreciates the efforts.
