Today our hearts are with the Musso family as they mourn the loss of Big Carl Musso — a true Pueblo legend, patriarch, farmer, businessman, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to countless people across Southern Colorado.

Some men build businesses. Some build families. Very few build an entire community around the values of hard work, humility, generosity, and love the way Carl did.

For decades, Carl Musso represented the very best of Pueblo. From farming the land, to feeding generations through Musso Farms and Musso’s Restaurant, to simply greeting customers by name with a smile and conversation — he made people feel valued. His legacy was never just produce, chile, sausage, or sweet corn. His legacy was people.

Our family had the privilege of knowing the Musso family first as customers, but over the years that relationship became something far more meaningful. During some of the darkest moments our family has ever faced, the Musso family stood beside us with compassion and generosity we will never forget.

That kind of kindness does not happen by accident. It comes from leadership, values, and example. It comes from men like Carl.

You can see a man’s true legacy in the family he leaves behind, and Carl leaves behind an incredible one. The entire Musso family has continued the same spirit of service, work ethic, and love for this community that Carl spent a lifetime building.

Pueblo lost one of its giants last night.

To the Musso family: please know our family is praying for you and grieving alongside you. Thank you for sharing Carl with this community for so many years. Men like him leave fingerprints on a city forever.
