Hi all! We are the owners of GLEAN Food Sanctuary, located in the heart of the Chandler Heights Citrus District in Queen Creek, Arizona. We practice the Biblical act of gleaning as described in the book of Ruth, focusing on using our abundance to feed the hungry. This weekend we are donating thousands of tangerines to St. Mary’s Food Bank as part of their citrus gleaning program. We also “glean” knowledge by teaching classes on nutrition, cooking and homesteading, since Jordan is a professional Chef and Christy is a registered dietitian and professor of Nutrition. We sell freshly laid eggs from our own backyard chickens and raw honey from our own beehives. We might be new to Facebook, but we have deep roots in Arizona history. In fact, many of the trees in our fruit forest are heritage citrus trees planted by the founder of Chandler, AZ nearly 100 years ago! GLEAN Food Sanctuary supports the sacred act of gleaning, where we donate our citrus and other produce to food banks and also provide sanctified nourishment to our local communities through our Farmer’s Market. We have a volunteer citrus gleaning event this Saturday, January 17 from 11-2 to harvest citrus for St. Mary’s Food Bank. Come join us and as a thank you come get some chili made by our very own Chef Jordano Sessions!
