At Luna Chick Farms we strive to humanely and ethically raise and produce happy, and healthy chickens and eggs. We provide all of our chickens with quality feed that is age, breed,

and size appropriate. Our chickens also all have ample time to roam the yard daily, foraging, socializing, and doing all the things chickens love to do. Allowing our chickens to scratch and forage throughout the day provides a lot of health and wellness benefits. We also regularly give our chickens tasty treats made by us with fresh, chicken appropriate vegetables, fruits and more. The overall health and well-being of our flocks is one of our highest priorities. We spend time socializing with our chickens daily, and regularly check each individual chicken for any signs of illness, injury or distress. We protect the integrity of our pure breed chickens by rotating our flocks on the yard throughout the day. We are currently focused on raising and producing the following breeds of chickens

Easter Egger/ EE: These are hardy chickens that lay beautiful colorful eggs. Our EEs are produced by Ameraucanas , they are social and friendly birds, excellent producers and are a great addition to any flock. EEs produce an average of 4 medium / large eggs/ week. French Black Copper Marans/ BCM: These are hardy chickens that lay the darkest of chocolate-colored eggs. BCMs produce an average of 3 medium/ large eggs/week. . Giant Fowl Cochin: These are large, super soft and friendly chickens, known for loving attention. Cochins lay an average of 2-3 medium/large brown eggs/ week. For more detailed information on our farm, chickens, and us in general please follow our page and regularly check our posts.

Okay everybody, I’m just going to make a separate post so there’s no confusion. ❤️

All of the flocks I currently have available have been claimed.

If, for any reason, they are not picked up the second weekend in September as planned, I will offer them again. At that point, I may also be willing to split the flocks up if necessary.

I genuinely appreciate everyone who reached out, and especially all of the kind words, love and support I’ve received. I really cannot stress enough that this decision did not come easily. I have spent years building and working with these flocks, and letting them go is incredibly bittersweet.

I also have to say how much it means to me that so many of you recognize the love, care and years of work I’ve poured into these birds. When you spend so much time quietly working toward something, selecting, improving, hatching, raising and starting over when necessary, you sometimes forget that other people can see the results too. Hearing that from so many of you has meant more to me than I can really put into words.

Knowing that these flocks are going to people who are genuinely excited to have them and appreciate what went into building them makes a difficult decision a little easier. ❤️

Thank you all. Truly.

This is a post I honestly hoped I wouldn’t have to make. ❤️

After a lot of thought, I’ve made the difficult decision to significantly downsize Luna Chick Farms. I simply don’t have the time and energy right now to give all of my birds and breeding programs the attention they deserve.

This one hurts because these aren't just chickens I've collected along the way. I've spent years building, selecting and honing these flocks, and I'm incredibly proud of what I've developed. I would really love to see them go to someone who appreciates the work behind them and wants to continue with these lines.

I’m starting with:

**Black Copper Marans**
• 5 laying hens
• 2 roosters
• 4 pullets

**Blue Copper Marans** CLAIMED
• 2 laying hens
• 1 rooster
• 3 pullets
• 1 cockerel

This flock is especially hard for me to part with. I've worked carefully with this line and they produce absolutely beautiful dark eggs.🥚🤎

**Lavender Ameraucanas** CLAIMED
• 5 laying hens
• 1 rooster

I will likely be downsizing additional birds as I work through everything, but these are the first groups I've decided to let go.

**They will not be available for pickup until the second weekend in September.**

My preference is to place these as breeding groups when possible rather than simply splitting them up. If you're seriously interested, please send me a private message and we can talk.

This isn't an easy decision. There are years of work represented in these flocks, and finding the right homes for them matters to me. ❤️

I invented a way to cool your chickens off so don't steal my idea! I kid I kid! Boiled up a bunch of eggs crushed them up froze them into bricks gave them to the birds to peck around at and help keep them cool. Easy way to help keep the birds cool, give them something to do and use up any extra eggs. I also give them fresh cold water every morning and monitor them for signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion. What are y'all doing to keep your birds cool during these consecutive weather alert days?
