Have you met Tommy Tafoya? Take a moment to get to know one of our community’s treasured unsung heroes.

A lifelong member of the Talpa community, Tommy has made a lasting impact through his work preserving the San Francisco de Asís Catholic Mission Church and serving as President of the Talpa Community Center and Library.

He is also deeply involved in acequias, working to protect and preserve our most precious resource, water.

Tommy gives selflessly, always stepping in where he’s needed without asking for recognition. We are truly grateful for all that he does.

Many know Jeff Cochran as a remarkable artist, but we know him as our neighbor and farmer friend. He's been a vendor at our market for a few years and is known as our "tomato guy". We're devastated to see that his green houses and working studio are damaged. He's part of our local food system here in Talpa-- the impact to his property is an impact on our local food community.
We will share any updates when we hear from Jeff as to what he needs to clean the burned area or may need later on for his green houses etc. and artist studio.

Many of you here in Taos have heard that our own amazing artist and dear personal friend Jeff Cochran had a horrific fire on his property here in Taos yesterday afternoon. We are so thankful that Jeff, his animals and his main residence were all spared. Sadly the fire completely destroyed his beautiful artist studio he built himself along with several garages where he lovingly restored and housed his incredible vintage car collection. Several storage buildings that held his vast amount of tools and his farming equipment he uses to grow his amazing organic vegetables were completely destroyed as well. As is the Taos way, so many of you have already reached out to us asking how you can help. After visiting with Jeff in person at his home today we feel that what would really help Jeff the most would be financial contributions directly to him. This would ease the huge financial upfront burden he is experiencing with immediate electrical repairs, debris removal, etc…. It would also soften the blow for him financially to immediately replace the things he most needs now and as they come up in the days, weeks and months ahead. If you are wanting to help by contributing we will be accepting checks made out to Jeff Cochran in person or by mail here at the gallery. We will make certain Jeff gets them within 24 hours from when we receive them. Our mailing address here at the gallery is the physical address: 127 Bent Street Taos, New Mexico 87571. In addition we are going to give Jeff 100% of any of his paintings that sell from the gallery today through this weekend. We’ve already sold two today!! Thank you, Taos!!! Y’all rock!!! Oh, and we love YOU JEFF COCHRAN!!Hold tight, dear friend. 🙏🏻🩵💚💜🙏🏻 Jones Walker of Taos. Where art lives!
