FARMER SAM HERE! Huge shout out to my soon to be husband 😁 T minus 19 days….to going along with my first of many crazy farm projects on Corbett Hill. This has been months in the making with only a few interruptions between wedding planning, farming, & moving. Yes I’m the girl that brought home chickens in February as a surprise to him 🙃. And they have lived in our basement far longer than they should’ve, but then it was calving season so it had to wait, then it was meat chicken season so they got moved to the meat chicken house while the meat chickens were in their brooder…but then the meat chickens needed that space so we didn’t have a choice but to finally finish the hen house. Thank you soooo much Jeff Andrews! And some are already laying we had 7 eggs today. Stay tuned we will let know you once we have enough to sell.

A phenomenal photo, but there is one major problem with it…the cows are in the hay field not the pasture. Thanks to the Costa Family for helping us wrangle them back in.

Just a cow dog doing cow dog things.

We try and take Pepper along with us when we do our cow checks, to get her used to being around cows. It’s safe to say she is a natural.

Our Chicks have graduated to the outdoor brooder. This is where they we originally supposed to be but the cold weather forced them inside. They still have the heat lamps for the cool nights but we are much happier without them in our basement. Hopefully Mother Nature lets the next group start in the barn!

We got our first group of meat chickens in yesterday. Unfortunately they are in our basement right now because of the cold weather. It never fails that when we the first group of chickens come in the weather is miserable.

Fixing fence. One of the first jobs on the farm in the spring is repairing and maintaining the fence on the pasture. This pasture is new to us this year and it is ready to go for turn out this weekend. I’ve often wondered what some of these trees have seen, over the years keeping watch on the fence line.

Our calving season did not start out on a good note. We unfortunately ended up losing cow & calf. This is unfortunately part of the business that not many talk about. But we are happy to also share that we have had 3 calves in the past day and half that are healthy and doing well!
