😅 Good news! We’ve got 30 chickens smoked! We sold out before noon last time we did this, so this time we thought we better make more. We also reduced the price by one dollar per pound, from $12 to $11/lb. Initially, this may seem astronomical, compared to what you're used to, but our chickens are different.
Our chickens are exclusively fed non-GMO feed from Burkmann Nutrition in Danville, KY. We raise them free-range on open pasture on our farm a few miles down the road, so they have free access to native medicinal plants, minerals and nutrients, (like protein from bugs, not animal bi-products!) This is how chicken used to taste, and how we think it ought to still.
Most chicken available today, almost everywhere, is fed genetically modified organism (GMO) grains via medicated pellets or crumble (which includes antibiotics as a preventative, that encourage harmful bacteria and viruses to become resistant, not just in our environment but in our bodies too!). They're fed a lot of things that make them grow rapidly, and held in tight containment, where they are not able to move freely. They're raised indoors in large facilities, with poor sanitation, often pecking at each other and consuming their own f***s.
