To our incredible community,
After almost 50 amazing years of serving you, spanning generations of our family, it’s with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of San Francisco Deli. Our last day of service will be Friday, June 13th.
This decision has not come easily. Our family has laughed, cried, argued, and bonded over this business for generations. The challenges of today’s world, including rising costs and the ongoing struggle to find and retain employees, have made it increasingly difficult to uphold the high standard of service and quality you know and love. We believe in prioritizing quality and consistency, and unfortunately, this environment no longer allows us to provide the experience our community deserves.
We are so thankful. Thankful for your loyalty, for the strangers who became family, and for past and present employees whose contributions to SFD never went unnoticed. You gave our family a gift that not everyone gets to experience: the chance to build something meaningful, rooted in love and fellowship. San Francisco Deli helped us teach our children hard work, determination, and what it means to be part of something great. What a blessing!
While this chapter is closing, our journey is not over. We will remain available for catering, including sandwich trays for business luncheons, events, and more. We are working on a refreshed catering menu and website to better serve you in this new capacity. We will also continue operating the fire support side of our business during the upcoming fire season. And who knows what the future holds… our kids are secretly hoping for a food truck someday!
As we part ways with our storefront, we’d like to gently remind our community: words matter. Local businesses, especially family-run ones like ours, are built on heart and determination, not corporate dollars. The feedback you share online carries great weight. If there’s a small business you love, support them when you can, be generous with grace, and if something isn’t right, give them the chance to make it right before walking out the door. The strength of a community is in how it shows up for one another.
From our family to yours, thank you for showing up for us all these years.
With love - The Luntey Family
