Pioneer Seafoods sustainably fishes for Rockfish, Sole and Sablefish in the Monterey Bay and surrounding waters. Since 2000, owner Giuseppe "Joe" Pennisi has partnered with environmental organizations to innovate new nets to eliminate bycatch, designing innovative "light touch" trawl gear for truly sustainable fishing.

Pioneer also had to fight thru incredible red tape, but has also become the first boat allowed to sell fish off the boat at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. Watch for event listings on Facebook to see when the Pioneer will be at the dock with fish. You can not get fish any fresher than this, and the flavor is unbelievable.
