The boys are back! A year ago when we sold our home, we had to temporarily leave behind our SPCA approved feral barn cats. The neighbors helped feed them and give them shelter until the summer passed and we were able to bring the cats to our barn. Recently the rat problem has gotten completely out of hand and I don’t feel traps or poison are neither humane or practice in a barn full of feed.
Did you know, Rats and mice have evolved to be deterred by the smell of their assassins? Even the smell of a little box is so ingrained in their dna they know it’s time to leave when one is around. Hence, less rats and mice have to be killed, instead they simply pack up and go somewhere else with only a few falling victim to the fairness of a cats judgement.
Today we got our boys back! Pictured here is “Buster Scruggs” he is a Russian Gray and prefers ZERO human interaction. “Seabass” not pictured is even bigger but loves human interaction. I have seen these cats run rats out of an entire cul de sac, jump 4+ feet high to catch pigeons, yet have never seen them grab a lizard or snake or ever bother our chickens. They know their job and keep to it. We are SO happy to have them back. 🐈⬛ 🐈
