Our first day to be open this season looks to be warm and dry. There are a few herbs that just aren't ready yet. We've just started to dig mints and found that we've lost many of them probably from underwatering and being gone weekly last summer and fall as we prepared to empty out and sell my now 100 yr old Mom's home and rural property as she transitioned into a nursing home up in St. Louis. This was compounded by an early spring and an overheated greenhouse. Seed germination was poor for some varieties and we had to replant. Because the weather was so back and forth, we'd move stuff outdoors and then have to move it back when there was a chance of frost. I'm hoping to have more mints and lemongrass as well as larger basils in a week or 2 now that my right arm is cast and splint free! For now we'll be open on Saturdays from 9am-1pm or by appointment only. I hope this does not inconvenience our wonderful customers too much.

Greenhouse plastic shredded but plants out in the open were ok. Baseball and golf ball sized hail here.

Our Opening day this year will start with an Open House on Saturday, May 9 from 9am-1pm. This is much later than we had planned but this fractured wrist has put us behind in everything from potting up to cleaning up the constant storm debris and digging up perennial herbs.I know that everyone is anxious to get stuff in the ground and apologize for not being open earlier this year with such a warm spring. We have a large assortment of Scented Leaf Geraniums which make a an unusual Mother's Day gift as well as some large 1 yr old Rosemary varieties .I'll post our hours for the rest of the season soon. We are always available if you want to make appointments to come out here at other times. Unfortunately our plans to be at Baker's Creek Spring Festival and at markets in April had to be canceled. Hoping for good news on May 7th that my right arm can be free of this restricting splint.

We will be open again this year but probably not til the end of the month. I tripped over the hose filling the ducks pool and fractured my right wrist and graduate from a cast to a splint at the end of the week.As a result, potting up our hundreds of cuttings and updating the website left handedly has been slow though I'm getting better at it.

I should have listened to my gut feeling that winter was not over. Get to spend the day before my wrist and elbow surgery lugging several hundred gallon pots back into the greenhouse before the upcoming cold fronts next week. Surgeon says no greenhouse work for 2 weeks at the busiest time of the year. Didn't plan the timing well but had to get it done before there was more nerve damage all related to my RA.

Nothing like finding an arrow shot thru your greenhouse. No one across the field has kids so suspect that now that the neighborhood deer have started to cross thru our orchard, someone took an illegal shot from the road. Concerned that we or our dog could have been hit.
