POV: your pork isn’t just “meat in the freezer” anymore 👏

One of my favorite things about raising pork is finding new ways to make life easier in the kitchen. Today’s project: homemade sausage gravy made with our farm raised sausage and then off to the freeze dryer for quick breakfasts later on.

Because good pork should be more than something you thaw last minute — it should become easy meals, family traditions, camping breakfasts, busy morning saves, time with your loved ones hunting, and comfort food ready when you need it. 🐷🤍

Welcome to Iron Hog! As a way of formally introducing ourselves — we’re the Mitchells! We are local pig breeders and pork producers located in Rexburg, Idaho.

For the past three years, we’ve been supplying East Idaho with show pigs through our business, Juniper Ridge Livestock . While the business may be newer, pigs have been a part of our lives for as long as we can remember.

I started Iron Hog after becoming a mom. I wanted to teach our son the value of hard work, responsibility, and knowing where his food comes from.

Long before we were married, we dreamed about raising pigs together. We actually came home from our honeymoon and immediately started building a barn. Since then, there’s been plenty of blood, sweat, late nights, and a few swear words poured into building these businesses.

We’re grateful for the support from our community and would love the opportunity to help with your pork needs!

My least favorite cut used to be pork chops… until I realized it wasn’t the cut I didn’t like—it was how the pig was raised.

What pigs eat makes a huge difference in how the meat tastes. That’s why we source all of our grain from local East Idaho farmers, chop it right here on the farm, and carefully build our own feed ration—using only ingredients we’d feel good about feeding our own family.

The end result speaks for itself.
