Hey everybody! I know it’s been a minute since I’ve posted. I’ve been getting questions about available produce and this is where we’re at right now. We have romaine lettuce, two types of spinach, green onions, beets, dill, and cilantro available. Everything is growing really well and we should start getting a bigger variety of produce soon. I’ve added a slew of herbs and they’re slowly popping up! I’ll be at the high tunnel this Friday through Wednesday. Message me, call or text and I’ll do my best to get you what you need. Chickens are popping roughly 15 eggs per day, too. Still $3/dozen. Come down to the ranch! Have a fantastic meal at the restaurant. Play some mini golf. Indulge in yummy ice cream and come see me!

For the past three growing seasons I’ve been working towards gaining organic certification. I spoke with a certifying agent this week and what she had to tell me is very encouraging! Since I make less than $5,000 per year and i follow all the rules for growing organic I can legally sell my produce as organic! Hooray! Now, I cannot use the USDA organic logo but I can use my own. If the time comes that I gross more than 5 grand I will seek true USDA organic certification. For now rest assured that when you purchase produce and canned goods from McJenny’s Farm you are purchasing quality organic yummies!

I’ve been blessed to receive so much support from the community and a host of local and federal agencies. Today I am honored to add another gracious benefactor to the hard work happening at McJenny’s farm. Some of my fruit trees didn’t make it through the winter. My friend and neighbor, Vera Andersen, asked if she could purchase some trees for the orchard. I told her that some needed to be replaced and she asked me for a list. I gave her a list and Vera replaced four of the trees I’d lost. She provided the Fruit Cage with a peach, apricot, pear, and apple tree Not only replaced but upgraded! I would’ve been happy with bare root trees but she purchased massive, established fruit trees. I am so honored and thankful for this huge contribution! Thank you, Vera, for these beautiful trees!
Oh, and the mystery plants are now an inch tall and gained their first true leaves! Gonna be fun watching these little guys grow.

Today has been a busy day and I have busted my ass to get some big projects done before heading back to work. We are one step closer to finishing the rocket mass furnace. Still have to finish out the wood stove and build the brick surround but that will come soon. I got the drip irrigation started and I’m so excited about this! I need to add some more drip lines but so far it’s working so great! There’s still so much to do but it’ll have to wait until after I rest up at work for the next three days 🤣

Been chomping at the bit to start planting inside the high tunnel. Finally got my chance today. Soil temps have been steady in the 60s so we should be good to go with the direct sow crops. Right now I’ve seeded the following:
Onions
Cucumbers (3 varieties)
Gourds
Butternut squash
Radish
Lettuce
Beets
Carrots
Spinach
Cauliflower
Broccoli
Green beans
Peas
Sweet corn
Cabbage

Basil
Parsley
Marigolds
Dill
Aaaand a curiosity crop (more to come on that one later)
Tomato and pepper plants still to come

We are moving right along!
