You will be missed tremendously β€οΈ
~Reast Peacefully, Charles Wilson~
Dear Market Community,
Mercedes here with an update that weighs heavily on my heart. I am saddened to share that one of our farmers' market vendors, a local dairy producer, and a man I am proud to call a friend, Charles Wilson, has passed away early this month.
Charles and his wife, LaDonna, also known as "The Farmer's Wife," were longtime part of our market, selling raw goat's milk, yogurt, and cheese. Charles tended the animals, while LaDonna crafted their delicious products. Together, they sold at several popular Fremont County farmers markets. In recent seasons, Charles became the businessβs primary face. He was easy to spot under his bright red canopy, content in his chair as he handed out hellos and ready to talk goats and dairy.
LaDonna has asked me to let their customers know that, with the loss of Charles, "The Farmer's Wife" will be closing permanently. Their business has thrived thanks to loyal customers, and your support over the years will not be forgotten.
As market manager, I am responsible for creating a welcoming and successful venue space for every vendor- and with 50+ participants a season, this is no small ask. Those who know me know I truly love what I do, but even the best jobs require a friend to lean on from time to time. For me, Charlie was more than just a vendor- he was a friend, a safe space, a sounding board for my wacky ideas, captain save the day a time or two, and, when needed, my very own flannel-clad cheerleader ready to point out everything I do right on days when I felt like I was doing everything wrong.
Charlie, thank you for always being in my corner. I cherish our friendship tremendously and will miss you dearly, my friend.
For those interested in paying their respects, the family will host a Celebration of Life this summer. Details will be shared with the community in the coming months.
On behalf of the LVFM Team and the market community, our thoughts are with his wife, LaDonna, his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
