Produce season is quickly coming to a close! If you are going to do any canning you better do it soon, or buy it and freeze it.
Unfortunately tomatoes aren't coming down any this year, the price is actually going up.
We will stay open as long as we can. We will be at the Foster Brook Farmers Market tomorrow morning.

Pennsylvania Family Confirms It’s Called Halupki, Refuses To Hear Any Further Arguments

Pennsylvania residents confirmed Wednesday that they have been eating the exact same cabbage roll for 100 years and still cannot agree on what the hell it’s called. In one town, it’s halupki. Drive 14 miles and suddenly it’s piggies. Somewhere else it’s stuffed cabbage. Mention any of these names in the wrong VFW and a 76 year-old woman named Barb will appear out of nowhere to explain why your entire family has been wrong since the Eisenhower administration.

Nobody knows where the borders are. There are no signs. You simply cross an invisible line somewhere in Pennsylvania and suddenly the word your grandmother used for 60 years is considered misinformation. The recipe is equally chaotic. There are no measurements because apparently measuring cups were considered cowardice by Pennsylvania grandmothers. The official instructions are “some meat,” “some rice,” “enough sauce,” and “you’ll know.”
NO, BARBARA. I WILL NOT KNOW.

Every family also has the only correct recipe despite all 67 counties somehow possessing a different one. Use slightly too much rice and three generations of somebody’s bloodline will begin whispering about you from the kitchen.

But the second that giant aluminum tray hits a table at a church picnic, fire hall, family reunion or grandma’s house, suddenly the conflict ends.
Halupki people. Piggies people. Stuffed cabbage people. All shoulder to shoulder, silently shoveling cabbage into their mouths while pretending they didn’t just threaten to disown each other over its name.

Pennsylvania may never agree on what to call them. But we will absolutely fight you for the last one
