Tomorrow is May 1st and that means the start of the Rochester Farmers Markets! Summer market season runs every Saturday (May thru October) from 7:30 am until 12 noon at the Olmsted County Fairgrounds. It is too soon for us to have fresh fruit yet, but I will be set up this Saturday, May 2nd with jams, jellies, apricot sauce, grape juice, raw honey, naturally dyed yarn and my own knitwear patterns. Stop by and say hi. I am in the same booth spot I have been for the past several years. Hope to see you Saturday!

The sudden surge in rain and warmer temps this week has put everything in catch up mode, including us. If you drive by these days, you will find us frantically pruning blackberries and tying grapevines. The buds on the grapevines are quickly starting to swell and bleed (when the water starts to flow through the vines, waking them up) which means each day is a race. Why? Although we can still tie grapes for awhile, the larger the buds, the easier it is to accidentally knock them off while tying. Wish us luck!

We are all packed up and ready for our last farmers market of the season. The outdoor Rochester Farmers Market runs through the end of October before it moves indoors, but this Saturday (October 11) will be our last day there. Stop by the Olmsted County Fairgrounds between 7:30 am and 12 noon to stock upon all your favorites! I won’t have grapes, but I will have a few blackberries, as well as lots of jam, jelly, grape juice, raw honey, and naturally dyed yarn. If you are a yarn lover, I will also be at the Textile market on November 8 from 9-12 noon.

The 2025 Grape Season has officially ended. Thank you to everyone who came out to help with the harvest this year. It was a warm one, but we very much appreciate all your support for our small business. If the weather behaves, I am hoping to set up at the Rochester Farmers Market one more weekend (Oct.11), so if you need any grape juice, jams/jellies, or raw honey, that will be a great time for you to stock up for the winter. Many apologies for anyone who went or was planning on going to the farmers market to buy produce or other goodies from us this morning. I went to bed last night not feeling great and woke up early this morning knowing I wasn't well enough to set up at the market. We are still open at the farm today (10-6) and tomorrow (12-4)... and since I didn't take my prepared grapes and blackberries to the market, we will have lots of pre picked of both available for drop ins today. Heads up for online ordering of grapes - Due to the declining volume of grapes in the vineyard, we have decided to take down the online ordering option. We are still filling orders as we are able, but we never know how many people will show up to pick and we don't want to take orders we can't fill. Please give us a call at 507-252-1309 if you would like to place an order for prepicked grapes as we will know in that moment if we can fill it for you. As of right now we plan to fill orders through Sunday, but will post again tomorrow if that changes. Thanks for understanding!

Grape update!! With the extremely warm, not so fall-like temperatures we have had the past week or so, we are seeing the grapes ripen more quickly. This coupled with the fact that we have a good, but not huge crop this year, may make our season a bit shorter than originally expected. Right now we plan to be open this weekend… Friday and Saturday (Oct 3 & 4) from 10 am-6 pm and Sunday, October 5 from 12 noon-4 pm. However after the weekend’s picking we will once again assess the vineyard to see if we have enough grapes to open for a third week. If you are still looking to get grapes, particularly if you are hoping for a large amount, this weekend will be your best bet to get what you need. We are still accepting orders on our website and will also be at the farmers market tomorrow, on top of being open for you pick… so lots of options to get what you need!

Yes, we are in the middle of Concord grape season (which by the way is going great... still lots of good ones out there to pick!)... but did you know that Tonya also dyes yarn naturally with plants we grow on the farm? And that she designs knitwear patterns? If you didn't and you or a loved one is a knitter, please check it out and pass along the info. There have been two new patterns in the past two weeks and both are available on our website and on Ravelry.com.

Even though the temperature won’t feel like fall today, our kitchen sure smells like fall! We are back on the grape juicing train and hope to have quarts available again this week, both at the farm and the Saturday market. We are closed for grape picking today and tomorrow, but will be open again on Wednesday from 10-6.

GRAPE UPDATE: We are now accepting orders for prepicked grapes to be picked up starting this coming weekend (Sept. 26-28). Orders greater than 10 lbs can be placed online at our website. If you are looking for less than 10 lbs, please call 507-252-1309 to place your order and then please pay with cash or check when you arrive for pick up.

Also, please note - this year due to an increase in our packaging costs, we have elected to add in a box fee instead of increasing the price of grapes per pound. If you would like to save on that fee, you are welcome to order via phone and let us know you will be bringing your own containers. The online listing price for grapes does reflect this change.

We will continue to be open for you pick grapes and pick up of prepicked orders on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 10 am - 6 pm and Sundays from 12 noon - 4 pm. We expect the season to go for 2-3 weeks, depending on traffic and the weather.

Grape Update: We had some humdinger storms come through early this morning, and we were a little worried as we did receive small amounts of hail several times. However, I am happy to report the grapes did well. I did not see any hail damage, only minor wind damage with bunches having been blown off in our south facing rows. Yeah! The grapes are just wet after the 2.5 inches of rain, but if the weather holds, they look to be great for opening day on Wednesday.
