Seed Treatment Methods
Check the moisture level of the seeds before storage.
Clean the seeds and remove any impurities such as soil or debris.
Dry the seeds by exposing them to sunlight.
Treat the seeds after drying.
Store the seeds in proper containers such as packets or tins.
Protect the seeds from insects and diseases.
Select seeds from healthy plants during harvesting.
Dry the seeds and then store them in a dry place.
The storage container for seeds should be tightly sealed and airtight (sealed container/packet).
Always monitor the moisture level and cleanliness of the storage area, such as the seed store or warehouse.
Irrigating Calendar
An irrigating calendar is a method that helps determine the correct time for planting or irrigating crops. It also helps farmers identify the irrigation schedule, the amount of water needed, and the type of crops that can be grown during specific seasons or months.
If vegetables are planted directly into the soil, it is recommended that the soil moisture should not be less than 1 inch of water per week. The best irrigation schedule is to water the crop three times per week. The frequency of irrigation depends on the following factors:
The amount of rainfall received in the area
The type of soil, such as sandy soil or clay soil
Weather conditions, including temperature, coldness, and heat
The type of crop being grown, such as vegetables, fruit trees, or other crops
During the early growth or germination stage, young plants require more water. They should be watered twice a day, in the morning and in the afternoon, until the plants become stronger. It is best to use a watering can.
Before watering, check whether the soil is moist or dry by using your fingers. If the soil sticks together and forms a ball shape, as shown in the picture, the soil is still moist and does not yet need watering. However, if the soil crumbles apart and does not hold together, the soil is dry and needs watering.
