A little Pinnon’s history for anyone who doesn’t know the story. This building first opened as Ken’s Market in 1951, and in 1976 it became the place so many of you know today. Over the years, it was passed from one group of local owners to the next, with Tom and Dan Baker eventually taking over and running the store until they retired in December of 2022.
That’s when Katie Bartel and Brittany Stack took the reins. Both are Rockford west side natives, both worked here for more than 20 years, and both already knew this place inside and out before becoming owners. They’ve kept a lot of what people have always loved about us while continuing to grow the meat market, deli, bakery, seafood, and catering side of the business.
And one thing we should probably clear up while we’re here. We are not the same Pinnon’s as the one in Beloit. Different place, different ownership, different story.
We’re Rockford through and through, and we’re pretty proud of that. ❤️
