We are all getting ready for our favorite day of the week. If it’s Thursday then it is time to go to the Rockland Farmers Market in Harbor Park! Sure, there may be a smidge of rain, but you know how to dress. So grab an umbrella, some waterproof bags, your boots, and your friends and spend the morning with us! We are there from 9-1, rain or shine.

Tomorrow, June 4th from 9-1, we will be all set up and bursting with good things for you to try. Maple syrup will be back! Grocery shop in the sunshine, listening to music, and chatting with your neighbors. Try something new, ask for a recipe, find out how it was made. Hello Farmers Market friends! We look forward to seeing you tomorrow, May 28th, from 9-1 in Harbor Park. Along with all the spectacular spring greens, herbs, and vegetables, there is everything from kimchi and honey, to bread, meat, oysters, pasta, flowers, seedlings, goat milk smoothies, water buffalo milk yogurt, pizza, and so much more. We are looking forward to seeing your kind faces this week. And we will have so much beautiful spring produce, a selection of goat and water buffalo dairy, honey, pasta and sauces, flowers, plants, bread, baked goods, oysters, herbs, seedlings, chicken, pork, beef, sausages, lamb, and goat. I am a bit behind with photos, but I know you can picture it in beautiful Harbor Park. All of our collective energy and our sharing the bounty of Maine with you will also go toward healing thoughts for Sarah Tompkins of Fineline Farm. You know Hubert, of course, our intrepid market president. Sarah is his partner in crime. She is also an EMT and in that capacity she was severely injured last Friday after responding to the fire at Robbins Mill in Searsmont. She is in our thoughts today as we get ready for market. Sarah and Hubert from Fineline Farm need our help right now. You are used to seeing Hubert in Rockland, but many of you know his partner, Sarah Tompkins, too. She runs the Fineline booth in Camden. On Friday while responding to the Robbins Mill fire as a paramedic, she was severely injured in the subsequent explosion. A Go Fund Me has been set up to help Sarah and Hubert during this time of recovery. The link is in our bio. Every little bit helps and we really appreciate it.

Thursday, May 14th is just around the corner. From 9-1 we will be ready to meet you at Harbor Park. We have chicken, beef, pork, cured meats, sausages, oysters, and honey. We will take orders for wild salmon. We will teach you about wool and herbs. We will teach you about plants and compost for your garden. We have goat cheeses and water buffalo yogurt and ALL the spring vegetables. We have kimchi and sauerkraut, pizza, and bialys. We have breads and sweet baked goods, flowers, and mushrooms, and MORE! We cannot wait to meet you.

In just 12 short hours the farmers and vendors will be setting up for the first market of the season! Did you know we have music almost every week? It really sets the tone and makes the market extra festive. All the vendors put together a “thank you” box for the performers each week, and usually they have a tip container out for you to show your support, too, and we all really appreciate it. Coast to Coast Salmon will be bringing wild sockeye salmon to the market this fall. They will be at the market for the first two weeks and you can meet them, pre-order larger amounts of salmon if you would like, and learn about their fishing and processing practices. Then they head to Bristol Bay, Alaska to catch this delicious wild food for you. You might be thinking, wait a sec! That isn’t in Maine. True. But Courtney and John are locals who live in Lincolnville and spend their summers fishing in Alaska for a living. They bring home some of their catch to share with their neighbors. We think that’s great and when you meet them and learn more about this sustainable fishery, we think you will too!

We are looking for musicians (or wool spinners, opera singers, mimes), in short, performers that can do their stuff outdoors admist the cheerful hustle bustle of activity that is the Thursday Farmers Market in Rockland.
