Fall is on its way! The goats are eyeing the nice clean barn but haven’t committed to shelter quite yet. The pigs are still belly flopping in the dust, their only concern being their empty food bowl. The clouds are drifting by but so far, only the surrounding areas have received rain and the only one who seems mildly disturbed is Celie who has abandoned her wild week of teenage carelessness (aka real outside goat) and demanded accommodations next to the dogs at the foot of our bed.

When selecting traits for breeding we look for a number of different things. We don’t breed for shows or pure blood lines. I look for a certain set of characteristics. Parasite resistance, milk production, growth rate on forage, and among many other things, personality.
This is my main buck- Frederick. He is a British Golden Guernsey. He’s ridiculously friendly like the rest of our home. He loves kisses (I don’t recommend), hugs (not high on my list either unless a shower is in my near future), and is known to be standing in the shadows stalking whomever may be visiting the farm for the day hoping to receive scratches if his ladies are ignoring him.
He also loves a good dark b**r.

Looking for a simple, rustic place to hold a last minute outdoor wedding or small party?

We have two weekends available this fall—September 12 and September 26. Our property is in Rogue River and can accommodate up to 75 people.

We have some decorations and a small sound setup available, linens, china and silverware can be rented if needed. We have pine slab benches and a cross, and some overhead lighting. You bring your own tables, chairs and vendors, and handle setup and cleanup.
