I BELIEVE in leadership from ourselves and respect from others. I believe in my own ability to work efficiently and think clearly, with such knowledge and skill as I can secure, and in the ability of progressive agriculturists to serve our own and the public interest in producing and marketing the product of our toil.

I BELIEVE in less dependence on begging and more power in bargaining; in the life abundant and enough honest wealth to help make it so–for others as well as myself; in less need for charity and more of it when needed; in being happy myself and playing square with those whose happiness depends upon me.

I BELIEVE in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words but of deeds – achievements won by the present and past generations of agriculturists; in the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come to us from the struggles of former years.

I BELIEVE that to live and work on a good farm, or to be engaged in other agricultural pursuits, is pleasant as well as challenging; for I know the joys and discomforts of agricultural life and hold an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I cannot deny.

It was a beautiful weekend here in Missouri! Seeing temperatures in the mid 60’s and predicted to be 70 today made for a great weekend of working outside on projects around the ranch.

We’re starting to see green grass here in Missouri but can easily get snow in April and heavy frost in May, so we’re not quite out of the woods yet.

Still, we’re grateful for these pretty days when they come and try to make hay while the sun shines so to speak.

Grateful for a beautiful weekend at home with friends + family. How was your weekend?

I’ll be headed back to Jefferson City today to serve in the Missouri Senate. It’s hard to believe we are already 8 weeks into the 2023 session. Still much work left to be done before we finish up in May.

Thank you for your prayers for our family as we work hard to serve our community and be good stewards of the ranch. We appreciate you so much!

EGGSHELLS in COFFEE?! If you’ve never had cowboy coffee, you’re in for a treat:

Ingredients:
3/4 to 1 cup ground coffee
Eggshell from 1 egg
4 cups water

Directions:
1. Boil water
2. Once water is boiling, break up eggshells and sprinkle them in so they sink to the bottom
3. Add coffee grounds. Do not stir. Bring to a boil then immediately remove from heat and steep as desired.
4. Serve + Enjoy!

🥚 Why eggshells? They help make your coffee less bitter and keep your coffee grounds from floating around!
