We are Robert and Kate Otwell, the owners of Bob’s Butcher Shop LLC. We are young, driven entrepreneurs that are raising three boys in Roscommon. Our mission is to provide the Village of Roscommon and the surrounding area with a good, old-fashioned butcher shop on the corner! We believe in preserving small town, rural Michigan and look forward to being at the forefront of revitalization for the Vi

llage of Roscommon. Our long-term vision is a multi-generational business that will stand the test of time. Between the both of us we have 18 years of retail grocery management experience. Robert is a journeyman butcher with a passion for meat cutting. He cut his way through a 3-year apprenticeship in 10 months and soon after was promoted to meat manager with his previous employer. It wasn’t long before Robert realized the limitations of working for a corporation. He was not able to serve his customers in the manner he wished and was not able to carry products that were specifically asked for. Kate is a skilled dry grocery manager with small business ownership experience and a knack for accounting. She grew up in Northern Michigan and has a true passion for small town revivals. We feel that we are the perfect recipe for a successful business. Our process is filled with thoughtfulness and excitement for the future not only for us but our community also. Robert, since the beginning of his meat cutting journey, had the goal of opening his own shop. Our dream started when we met with Diane and Greg at the Sawmill Rural Business Center. When we consulted with them, we discovered that a butcher shop/meat market was an identified need in Roscommon. After an abundance of market research and planning, we started our journey as owners of our very own butcher shop. We look forward to serving you quality products, handpicked by us. Our vision is to have quality consistent meat and grocery products 100% of the time to ensure that you experience complete satisfaction with each visit.
