Time to clean, repair, and put all the honey supers away until next year. The ladies made a strong comeback from the early season drought and ended up making over 40 buckets of honey and a fine crop of sourwwod to boot.

For any of you that have pools, this time of year the ladies will visit you for water to cool their hives. I know no way to keep them all out but you can place kiddie pools full of water out with floating things in them and some will go there but for the rest, try leaving a brightly colored boogie board in the pool as a landing pad. Far less bees drown this way.

Some days I wish it was like this. The girls did not like us opening their hives yesterday at all. It ot was the only time we had. 2 more yards to pull honey from and the season will be over ish. Have a great Sunday folks.

Sourwood honey now available at BI-RITE SUPER MARKET and also at Richard's Meats & Things. This is some seriously amazing tasting honey our bees harested at 2300 feet up in the Appalachian mountains. We have a limited amount this year so get it before its gone.

This year we took a chance and hauled 8 of our colonies to the mountains in hope of harvesting some of the elusive and delicious Sourwood honey. Sourwood honey comes from the sourwood tree. It only makes significant nectar above 1200 ft elevation, only in the Appalachian mountain area, and for only a couple.weeks a year making it very difficult to harvest. We went and retrieved our bees from their little vacation in the mountains friday evening. The ladies worked hard for a month and blessed us with our first crop of SOURWOOD honey! A big thank you to the wonderfull family that let is park our trailer in their back yard for this flow. We would have been in a bad way this year without this bonus honey as the drought has cut our production by about 80% from last year. This stuff tastes AMAZING and we cant wait to share it with you all. The bottles, lables, and caps should be here soon and when they arive we will get it bottled and out to our locations as quickly as we can so you all can enjoy this amazing liquid gold.

This year is the first time we have taken some of our bees to the mountains to attempt to harvest some sourwood honey.
