Though the snow is pretty, our Guineas are not so impressed! The chickens aren't much happier! Lol! Thankfully, all of the critters have good shelter as the winter months are only just beginning.

Kaitlyn is moving the turkeys outside in their moveable pen now that the early snow and really cold temperatures have passed! We have a few turkeys still available for Thanksgiving! There's nothing better than a fresh, pastured bird on the Thanksgiving table!

What a lovely first snow! We got at least 4 inches here...and our young layers and Guinea fowl are NOT impressed!😂

Our final batches of broilers and turkeys get butchered this coming Saturday. If you have a last minute order, please let us know!

Chicken butchering day! The girls are custom piecing and shrink-wrapping for the freezer. Gorgeous (pastured, non-gmo) chicken! They are taking orders for their last batch (whole or pieced)...will be ready the end of October. Get on the list before they are sold out!

First harvest of the season! The crazy flooded spring created a garden planted rather late, but we thank God for the wonderful bounty! There is something so satisfying in growing your own healthy and delicious food for the family! We do more than meat on this little homestead! 😊

As with the rest of farmers, homesteaders and gardeners in Ohio, the rainy weather has taken its toll around here. The ONLY critters enjoying the deluges of rain are the geese! (Note...we do not have an official pond on our property!)

Our first new spring additions have arrived! Fifteen guinea fowl have joined the Homestead. Cyrus thinks they're pretty neat! New layers and meat chicks arrive next week!

Start teaching gardening YOUNG! My 19-month old grandson is helping his mommy water spring seeds!

It may seem trivial, but this one reason I wait to clean out my raised beds and flower beds until the spring. These birds are eating seeds from my basil plants. Great natural foods for our feathered friends.

New babies at the Homestead! Five little goslings hatched yesterday! So cute!!!
Also...our broiler chickens are looking great and will be processed this coming Saturday and Monday! Last call for orders!! If you want any tasty, healthy chickens for the freezer (whole or pieced), let us know as soon as possible!
