Think about it, if you are in a tank & shorts or even a swimsuit & you’re still sweating, then your chickens need a little extra attention!! I pour cheap canned peas in an ice cube tray, fill with vitamin water & freeze then on these extra hot days my girls have a nice cold treat!!! Fruits & veggies are great frozen treats, just not corn! Don’t give corn to your flock during extreme heat! Corn builds fat which makes the body hotter than it already is!!!

Eggs getting smaller or not getting any at all?? This is natural, chickens tend to not lay or lay very few during the heat of the summer or during their molt!!

🚨🚨🚨DONT PANIC🚨🚨🚨

During warmer weather chickens go through a cycle called “The Molt”. This is a completely natural process that helps the chicken rid themselves of old feathers & regrow new thicker feathers. It’s also a way for chickens to “cool” themselves in the heat! Although chickens love nothing more than to pick at each other some feather loss could be from picking but most likely they are molting!! They will regrow before winter so even though they turn “ugly” for a few months, their beauty will shine again!!!
