To our Valued customers and friends
I wanted to share some difficult but exciting news with you.
After 58 amazing years, it is time for me to take a step back from the deli. This town, the business, our customers and staff have been such an important part of the Gilligan/Phillips family for so long and this was a difficult, but good, decision for me.
Sometimes an opportunity presents itself, and this is one of those times.
Donald Billings will be the next proprietor of Gill's and he will be taking over the business this month.
Donald is dedicated to Rutland, and has a great appreciation for what we’ve done here over the years - and I trust him to continue our legacy.
I’m going to work with Donald part-time in the deli to help with the transition over the next several months – and maybe beyond – but also allowing myself some much needed relaxation and time to move on to the next chapter of my own life.
The Gill's team will continue with our existing menu & recipes – and staff, including my daughter Lindsay and other family members . Gill's also is going to make some things more convenient for you in the near future by increasing the hours of operation, adding credit card payment options, online & call-ahead ordering.
I couldn’t step back from this without knowing that it’s in good hands. And I’m confident this is the best decision for all of us as well as our “Gill’s family"
In addition to the announcement, I wanted share the timing of this exchange. I will be closing at the end of business hours Saturday, October 15th.
Gill's will re-open for business on Tuesday, November 1st and we’ll see you then.
(Gills will be closed 10/16-10/31).
I want to thank everyone for being such an important part of our lives and for supporting us for so many years. A special thank you to my employees who have been there for me and my family .
This building is full of memories and milestones that will always be with me…
