Tomorrow morning's forecast looks perfect for the biggest market lineup of the season so far. We will have close to 30 vendors this week along with our good friends the Roanoke Valley Master Naturalists.

The Senior Farm Market Fresh Program kicks off this week. If you have a card from last season and have applied this year, funds should be available to shop from the following farms at the market from tomorrow:

Welcome the much-needed rain tomorrow morning at the market -- the covered pavillion will help keep everyone dry.

We also have the first Giving Garden Workshop with the Roanoke Master Gardeners starting at 10am, rain or shine. Meet at the Market Information Table located at the front corner of the market and we'll make the short walk over to the garden to learn more about "Planting and Transplanting for Summer Success."

Tomorrow kicks off the third season of our monthly artisan markets in downtown Salem. From custom poems typed on the spot to unique, one-of-a-kind ceramics made in Salem, we have a great lineup of local artists to start the season. Vendors will be set up under the market pavilion, rain or shine, from 5 to 8 pm.

Many thanks to the Clean Valley Council for coming out to facilitate a rain barrel workshop at the Salem Farmers Market last week. It was a fun, hands-on experience — from drilling into plastic drums to learning about conserving water in home gardens.

We always welcome the opportunity to support CVC's commitment to environmental education and stewardship in the community.

New Gardening Workshops Start up at the Market this Season!

Join us for a monthly, hands-on gardening workshop series hosted by The Salem Farmers Market and the Roanoke Master Gardeners.

This FREE workshop series is for home gardeners of all levels and will include expert guidance from local Master Gardeners on a wide range of topics throughout the season.

The first workshop, "Planting and Transplanting for Summer Success," takes place this Saturday. Meet at the Farmers Market Information Table at 10am and then make the short walk over to the Salem Giving Garden (located just behind the market parking lot) for the workshop.
