I hope everyone is staying cool today, friends! ☀️
Our morning started with cleaning and refilling our duck pools with fresh, cold water. Our spoiled boys each have their own pools this year. Our pekin, Jimmy, has developed some mobility issues that prohibit him from being able to climb into the taller pools. Our mallard, Sarge, loves being able to paddle without his feet touching the bottom so he appreciates the deeper water. This set up helps them feel like they're still swimming together while also taking care of individual needs.
Next, I went around the property and filled up all of our drinking stations. These are heavily used on days like today by our chickens, cat, and various other wildlife. This year we have a resident red-winged blackbird as well as my favorite-mourning doves, who hang out most of the day by the water.
Then our ladies got a treat of cold watermelon for lunch. 🍉
