And for the lady, perhaps a sweet treat? 😏🍪🍩

On market day (or ever really), the phrase ‘no thanks I don’t want dessert’ isn’t even in our vocabulary. And thank GOD because the locally baked sweet treats are endless and irresistible. Gluten free girlies can chow down on donut holes from 100% Gluten Free (celiac safe) & Vegan Baked Goods, mochi maniacs will find flavors like ube and pandan at Lanis Homemade Cookies, and blueberry baddies might just experience euphoria in the form of a warm muffin from SAM’S BREAD.

Satisfy your sweet tooth TOMORROW from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Wednesday Mercato in Little Italy San Diego 🩷

National Farmers Market Week 🤝 local sourcing

During stone fruit season, 🍑s tend to hog the spotlight. Though these last few weeks, it’s juicy, slightly more tart sister, the plum, has been stealing the show. Available in varieties like emerald and black splendor, vendors and neighbors alike have been pulling inspo from the often underrated summer fruit.

Our plum picks (all ft plums from Heritage Family Farms!!):
🍋 Drewski’s Lemonade plum strawberry coconut lemonade
🥐 Frost Me Cafe and Bakery plum danish

Best enjoyed from a seat on the piazza TODAY at the Wednesday Mercato from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM in Little Italy San Diego 🇮🇹

THIS IS OUR SUPER BOWL 👨‍🌾⛺️🍓🥬💐🎉

The best week of the year is here!! Each year, acts as an excuse to advocate for all things farmers markets (not that we need one 🤭). As an open and operating farmers market for 17 perfect, produce filled years, we ‘re incredibly proud to be a small piece in a puzzle of farmers markets working worldwide to ensure that our communities are well fed and small farmers can keep farming.

In a day and age when consumers are skeptical of the origins, safety, and accessibility of fresh food, farmers markets act as a shining light when it comes to food access. An optimal example of what local food systems can and SHOULD look like, they breed opportunity for entrepreneurs, income for farmers, and food security for our neighbors. And if that’s not a worthy cause to root for, then we don’t know what is.

Celebrate the best week of the year with us at any one of our weekly markets (or at whichever market is near and dear to your heart really). We’re open tomorrow from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. 💜

WOO! TOMATO 🍅 TOMATO 🍅 (celebratory)

Summer may be coming to a close, but tomato season is still going strong. The ultimate summer to fall transition veg, they shine bright and taste even better whether they’re sliced up and served fresh or cooked down into a savory sauce (not that we’ll be turning on our oven anytime soon 🥵).

Take home tomatoes and loads of other locally grown produce TODAY at the Saturday Mercato from 8 AM to 2 PM in Little Italy San Diego 🍝

If not fall, why fall shaped 🧐🍂

A few of our fall favs are making a surprise appearance around the market this summer! Between early season sweet potatoes and fresh figs, you’d think it was October if it wasn’t for the 82° weather. Even if their stay is brief, we’re making the most of their presence by combining their comforting flavors and colors with the refreshing produce of summer.

Our random recs:
🍈 a summer cheese plate complete with Rodney Kawano cantaloupe, KensTopNotch_Chavez figs, Farmer’s Daughter Olive Oil olive oil, and A Mano Cheese stratcciatella
🍠 grilled 🍃J.R. Organics Farm🍃 sweet potatoes finished with MAandJAY and Not Your Nonna’s chimichurri butter served alongside Da-Le Ranch flank steak
🍐 a fruit crisp featuring Gilbert & Lee Farms Asian pears and Familia Martinez Farms INC 🍓 strawberries topped with Dirt Food granola

Scratch your summer (or fall) produce itch with us TOMORROW at the Saturday Mercato from 8 AM to 2 PM in Little Italy San Diego 🫶
