It’s National Tomato Day, which is the kind of holiday we live for at the farmers market! If you’re looking for a quick summer recipe that uses fresh, delicious produce and doesn’t require too much time standing over a hot stove, try roasted red pepper and tomato gazpacho, a tasty soup served cold.

The great thing about gazpacho is you can make it anyway you like. We love ours with smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, and of course, plenty of salt to really bring out the flavor of these juicy tomatoes. Red peppers can be roasted right on the burners then cleaned of char to add a layer of smokiness that pairs perfectly with the paprika. We put a quarter cup of olive oil in our gazpacho but feel free to add more or less, depending on taste.

Top your gazpacho with anything you’d like! We went with Mexican crema for a smooth, rich addition that looks as pretty as it tastes. Serve with a thick slice of freshly baked bread from farmers market mainstay Driftwood Bread (Driftwood ).

The Daisy Refillery is at the Outer Sunset Farmers Market every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month! Come find the Lark Mobile, their 100% electric storefront, and purchase sustainable household care and personal care products that are all free of single-use plastic! In addition, the community also has the option of bringing in their own containers to refill on a multitude of hair care, body care, skin care, and cleaning refills.

The Outer Sunset Farmers Market and Mercantile is celebrating our 6th anniversary this Sunday, August 2nd! We love being part of this community’s week and seeing the neighborhood come out for fresh produce, baked goods, local food favorites, handmade items, live music, arts, activities, games, and special events.

It means so much to us that this market means so much to all of you, so we’re holding a giveaway to show our appreciation. This Sunday, we’re offering 50 Anniversary Bucks, worth $5 each. These can be used at any booth and are valid through August 9th. The first 25 people at 9:00 am and the first 25 people at 12:00 pm who complete a quick activity at the Info Booth will receive one per person.

Stop by the Info Booth to claim yours while supplies last and enjoy the special anniversary activities. Here’s to another year of being an integral part of the Outer Sunset community!

Summertime means stone fruit and stone fruit means pie! We got into the kitchen to experiment with peaches from Castellanos Farms and whipped up a magnificent, fresh, unique dessert!

Peach and rose pie takes a summertime classic and adds a floral spin. Mix a tablespoon (or more if ya like) of tidewater to diced up peaches for a sweet and bright flavor you’ll love.

We recommend going light on the sugar. The peaches were so sweet and juicy we thought more than a quarter cup would be overkill. Bake at 375 for 40 mins or until the crust is golden brown. To get even more decadent, serve with a scoop of local vanilla ice cream.

The farmers market is celebrating its 6th anniversary on August 2nd! Join us during National Farmers Market Week for all the usual freshness and deliciousness plus raffle prizes, live performances, and special activities.

We’ll be at 37th and Ortega every Sunday, rain or shine, from 9am to 2 pm. Come by for this weekly community event where the neighborhood plays, shops, eats, and spends time with each other and the amazing local vendors that make up the Outer Sunset and beyond.
