We did it! Market Match has been funded in California’s 2026-27 Budget. 🎉 Thank you Governor Gavin Newsom, Senator John Laird, Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel, and state leaders for including $15 million for the California Nutrition Incentive Program (CNIP), which funds Market Match.
🌟 A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our community members who made calls, sent emails, and advocated in Sacramento to protect healthy food access for all Californians and vital income for small family farms. Foodwise is proud to be part of a powerhouse coalition of 350+ organizations fighting to Save Market Match. 🥕 Market Match is a vital food security program that makes fresh food affordable by doubling CalFresh benefits at farmers markets across the state. In 2025, the program served 660,000 CalFresh shoppers statewide, and 9,000 at Foodwise markets alone. Amid federal cuts to SNAP, Market Match is needed more than ever, and in this challenging budget year, we are grateful to our state leadership for continuing to invest in food access, community health, and local farms.
