On Tuesday October 6 and Wednesday October 7, the Early Warning System sirens located in the Diablo Canyon Emergency Planning Zone will undergo quarterly growl tests. Each of the 131 sirens will be tested individually for a few seconds. If you are close enough to a siren you may hear a low-powered growling sound. These tests help us ensure that the system is working properly should it be needed during an emergency. For more information about the sirens, visit PrepareSLO.org/sirens

This Saturday is , our annual full-scale test of the Early Warning System sirens. 131 sirens are located within the Diablo Canyon Emergency Planning Zone and will sound at noon and again at 12:30 pm for 3 minutes. This is only a test and no action is required for the public.
