Apple Season Continues! 🍏

We’re rolling right along with some delicious varieties, perfect for fresh eating, baking, or saucing. Here’s what’s on the stand this week:

🍯 Gala (ON SALE $2/lb for saucing): Sweet, mild, and crisp with pretty red-orange stripes.

🥧 Newtown Pippin: A pie favorite! Tart like a Granny Smith but packed with more flavor.

🍬 Red Gold: A Red + Golden Delicious cross. Super sweet with little to no tartness.

🌿 Limbertwig: Southern heirloom with a sweet-tart, slightly spicy kick.

🍎 Jonagold: Sweet-tart and creamy- perfect for fresh snacking.

🍏 Bellflower: Old-fashioned New Jersey variety. Crisp, juicy, and perfectly balanced.

✨ Sundower: Firm, crisp, and full of sweet-tart flavor.

Westy is getting a hands-on lesson in the apple orchards from Dad, Farmer Jake! 🍎🍏
Our very first apple of the season has made its debut and is now available at the farm stand. The orchard is looking beautiful, with trees full of fruit and the apples starting to show their gorgeous color.
If you’re one of our wonderful customers who buys 100 lbs or more for your famous Gravenstein pies and applesauce, we ask that you hold off just a little longer- larger quantities will be ready next week.

We are roughly ONE week out from the start of apple season! 🍏🍎🙌🏼
Mark your calendars for first picking of Graventsein apples.

What’s a Gravenstein you ask?! People have long believed that the Gravenstein was brought to Sonoma County sometime around 1812 by Russian fur trappers at Fort Ross. However, recent evidence indicates that Gravs might have arrived even earlier, brought north from New Spain by the Spaniards.

Graventsteins are an awesome kick off to the season with their superior crunchiness and balanced sweet to tart. As we get into the 2nd picking and later they become increasingly sweet making them perfect for an apple sauce with little to no added sugar. If we have enough quantities and end up with too many we will offer our annual sale on them for saucing before we send them to be pressed for fresh cider.
