Hi Everyone. Just wanted to update you regarding my attempts to find someone interested in carrying many of the Irish and British Imports we featured so that you all can continue getting your favorite goodies.

I approached a total of four local shops who I considered the most likely and potentially the best fit. Two expressed a strong interest initially but the last time I checked had not added any products. Nor has a third who had not been quite as enthusiastic. The fourth was more recent so it's too soon to tell.

Currently the local market carrying the most (by far) is Mosaic Market on 37th just off El Camino in southern San Mateo. I was there last week and found all these items already on their shelves: Batchelor Beans, Branston, HP, Lyle's, Bisto, Robertson's mincemeat & marmalade, Barry's teas, PG Tips, Heinz beans, piccalilli & pickles, Ribena, Robinson's, McVities, Walkers, and a healthy selection of Cadbury and other Irish/British candy. Plus, Winston bangers and back bacon.

I spoke with the owner for a while and he indicated he'd be more than happy to order much more if customers show an interest. He already has relationships with the suppliers. My guess is that if you stop in, buy a few things, and ask if he can get you this or that, he probably will. Especially if several people start making various requests. He'll get the idea.

Though not nearly as much, Crystal Springs Produce up on the hill in San Mateo and Dean's Produce in San Mateo and Millbrae each carry some items plus Pape's Meats, just up the street in Millbrae, carries Irish bangers, puddings and back bacon.

There are also two other entities I know of that are at least considering opening new shops that would feature extensive Irish and British Foodstuffs along with other imports. I'll try to let you know if either of those happen.

Finally, as for me, I confess I'm fully enjoying my ample free time. I keep saying I'll look for a part time job I enjoy at some point but don't seem to be in any hurry at this point. Eventually.

Sports teams often have what they call "Fan Appreciation Day" at the end of each season. So we're gonna do a "Customer Appreciation Day" with a twist. Recently we had a few "Half Off Days". This Saturday from Noon till 4, we figured we'd take the Other Half Off. We'll accept if you want to throw a few bucks our way but everything left (most but not all is pictured) is officially 100% off. While Supplies Last! And we hope they don't. That's the whole idea.

Also, the woman who has expressed an interest in taking over is still considering (or at least was as of yesterday) but has not yet pulled the trigger. We will continue to keep you posted.

Hi Everyone. First off, thank you all for the kind words.

We're doing one more half price day this coming Saturday. Pics show all the Irish/British items remaining. There are some other high quality food items you may be interested in though - as well as non food. Everything is half price, so we hope you'll take a look.

So you know, we do have a friend of the store seriously looking into taking over. She's currently doing her homework and checking on feasibility. We should know more in a week or so and will keep you posted.

What's next for the market?

We will be open this Friday and Saturday from Noon till 4 only. Everything remaining will be half price until we sell through – and some items even less.

Thank you for your many years of support and a treasure trove of pleasant memories – but I'm ready to move on.

My preference is to find a way for you all to continue getting your favorite imports so, rather than shut down altogether, if someone wants to take over, I'm willing to help you get it going however I can. No charge. It could be that a few friends, or a family, an existing business or individual may decide to give it a go – either it this location or elsewhere. If so, please reach out within the next couple weeks. My cell is 971-344-3644. Email is [email protected]

If no one comes forward I will also approach a few local businesses to see whether there might be an interest. Beyond that, I don't know what more I can do.

I would of course prefer selling what product remains rather than not, so, in addition to getting some bargains, you'll definitely be helping me out too. Thanks!

Okay, so the delivery that was due yesterday, which they then told me would come Monday instead, just got delivered this afternoon. Which I guess is better than Tuesday or Wednesday, right?

Anyway, some of the items we were out of and people were waiting for did arrive. I forgot to include the Barry's Decaf in the pic but it's here too.

More meats are all coming Friday of this week, including Winston Bangers plus Black and White Puddings, Irish Grub Rashers in both the 8 oz. and 16 oz. sizes, Boiling Bacon, and likely (though not definite at this point) a small amount of Donnelley Black and White Puddings.

We'll be here just Friday and Saturday this coming week but then add additional days the final two weeks before Christmas. I'll post an exact schedule soon.

Christmas update: A very large Christmas shipment left the East Coast yesterday and is expected here this coming Friday November 17. It will take the entire day to unpack and price though. You're certainly welcome on Friday but may find things easier on Saturday.

We will also open some additional hours in an attempt to accommodate everyone. We will be open on Sunday 11/19, Tuesday 11/21 and Wednesday 11/22 (the day before Thanksgiving) from Noon until 4 only. Plus all Fridays and Saturdays from 11-6 as usual.

We will also open some additional days in December, especially as we get closer to Christmas. Please feel free to reach out to me if none of these hours work for you and I will do my best to work out a convenient time for all . Email at [email protected] is probably the best way to reach out.

The Import Shipment that was due last Friday finally arrived this week. Here are some pics showing many of the items we had previously ran out of. We'll see you Friday and Saturday from 11-6.

Also, our distributors had originally estimated the Christmas items would be here the first or second week of November but are now estimating the second or third week. We'll of course keep you posted as we learn more.
