Cal Fresh recipients can apply for partial or total replacement of the value of food lost if spoiled if they are affected by a disaster or power outage. The most important thing is that they submit the completed form within 10 days of their loss. For clients who were impacted by the first storm on 1/4/23, they only have 10 days from 1/4/23 (1/14/23 )to submit the form. Additionally, they need to know the reason/cause of the food loss (power outage, flood damage, evacuation, etc.) and when possible an estimate of the amount of loss – there is a calculation that can be applied to households who are not sure of the amount, but having that estimate does help.
The forms linked below are directly from CDSS web site. Additionally, clients may come to any of the following County offices M-F 8am-4pm: 2550 Paulin Dr SR; 5350 Old Redwood Hwy N, Ste 100, Petaluma; 2227 Capricorn Way, #100, Santa Rosa; call the Economic Assistance Service Center M-F 9am-3:30pm; or submit the form electronically via MyBenefitsCalWIN.org or GetCalFresh.org. This information is on the Human Services website as well (scroll down to the bottom of the page).
